Trujillo is a city in coastal northwestern Peru and the capital of La Libertad Region. It is also known as the "Capital of the everlasting Spring", is considered the "Capital of the Marinera," a traditional dance in Peru, "Cradle of the typical Peruvian Paso Horse," as well as the "Capital of Culture of Peru". It has sponsored numerous national and international cultural events, and has a lively arts community. Current festivals include the "National Marinera Festival", the Trujillo Spring Festival and the International Book Festival, which is one of the most important cultural events in the country. For tourist, Trujillo offers very good places like restaurants and hotels, some of then run by Europeans such as Saint Etienne Hotel, Il Valentino Pizzeria, Metropolitan Restaurant, all of them are located in a reach zone: San Andres, this area is called the Miraflores of Trujillo because is reach, safety and it is located next to historical center of Trujillo. Other good places in the city are El Paisa, if you like marine food, El Romano Criollo for typical food and B&B Orrego Hotel if one likes low prices and good quality. Due to its geographic location it is also known for its seafood and the beaches of its famous surf and beach resort Huanchaco.

The city was founded on June 1, 1533, and named after Cartagena, Spain, itself after the original Carthage in Tunisia. However, settlement in this region around Cartagena Bay by various indigenous people dates back to 4000 BC. During the colonial period Cartagena served a key role in administration and expansion of the Spanish empire. It was a center of political and economic activity due to the presence of royalty and wealthy viceroys. In 1984 Cartagena's colonial walled city and fortress were designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Coquimbo is a port city, commune and capital of the Elqui Province, located on the Pan-American Highway, in the Coquimbo Region of Chile. Coquimbo is situated in a valley 10 km (6 mi) south of La Serena, with which it forms Greater La Serena with more than 400,000 inhabitants. The commune spans an area around the harbor of 1,429.3 km2 (552 sq mi). The average temperature in the city lies around 14 °C (57 °F), and precipitation is low.
