The Best of Italy & Sicily

About Sicily

This traditional grand vacation is perfect for those who wish to see all of Italy, including the Isle of Capri and Sicily. Guided sightseeing and highlight visits are included to St. Peter’s, the Sistine Chapel, and the Colosseum in Rome; the Academy of Fine Arts with Michelangelo’s David in Florence; and in Venice, enjoy a guided walking tour featuring the Rialto Bridge, the Bovolo Spiral Staircase, and a visit to St. Mark’s Square and Basilica. Stop in Ravenna, to admire the famous mosaics in the Basilica of St. Apollinaris in Classe; stay overnight in Assisi and admire St. Francis’ Basilica. After a guided walking tour of Pompeii, the Roman city both destroyed and preserved by an eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, enjoy a cappuccino and sfogliatella at Grand Café Gambrinus in Naples, before boarding the overnight ferry to Sicily. Here a visit to the Norman Cathedral in Monreale, a wine tasting at the famous Florio wine cellar in Marsala, a guided walk through the spectacular Valley of Temples, and a visit to the Greek Amphitheater in Taormina await you. Board your ferry and cross the Strait of Messina to Calabria. Two nights in Sorrento include a visit to the Isle of Capri by jetfoil across the Bay of Naples and a funicular ride to Capri village. This wonderful vacation ends back in Rome with a farewell dinner at a local restaurant.
